This will be a familiar face to many of our long time supporters.

Darbs was a firm favourite with many people.

Sadly due to work commitments Darby is looking for his forever home.

He’s been in the UK since arriving in his home August 2023.

Darby is around 6 years old and 15kg (small medium). His breeding is unknown so he is a crossbreed. Darby is currently living with one other dog and they get on well. But also he doesn’t mind being without company. We think he would be suited to a home with another dog though to help him when he’s left alone at home. He loves going for a walk but always on the lead due to his recall not great. He loves being out exploring. His current adopters think a more rural setting would suit him best. They describe him as an old soul who enjoys the peace and quiet. He needs a Child free home.

He WILL NOT be re-homed until the New year due to it being Christmas.

Darby’s History before adoption to the UK

Darby was rescued back in 2020 from a notoriously disgusting Kill Shelter. Darby was in a pen with three other dogs and continually being attacked by one of the dogs over food. But also suffered abuse from the Kill Shelter workers. We knew we couldn’t leave him in there. But as usual they don’t make it easy for anyone to rescue dogs. So we had to wait a week knowing he had to suffer even more In that hell hole.

Darby arrived into foster terrified as you can imagine. Everything was very scary for him and he spent a lot of time hiding. Last year we moved him to a new foster and he started making baby steps. We never pushed him and it was all in his own terms. In time he began to trust at the shelter and overcome most of his fears.

Darby is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, had all his health checks (inc brucellosis and heartworm) and has his full passport.

Adoption Process/Timeline

The first part of the process is potential adopters need to complete the pre-adoption/adoption request form on the page below Darby they are interested in adopting.
Once this has been completed, the team will assess all applicants and if suitable, we will organise a face-to-face homecheck, which means a volunteer will come and have a chat/check your home and gardens are suitable. We will ask the home checker to take photos of your garden.
Once the home check is completed, if we feel you can offer the perfect home, we will reserve Darby for you.
The adoption fee is available on request (non-refundable) and covers all vaccines, microchip, neutering (depending on age), all health checks (incl. brucellosis and heartworm), passport and transport from Romania to the adopters home.
The final payment is to be made 2 days before Darby travels.
Darby will only be neutered if old enough. Otherwise this will be the responsibility of their adopters and proof of neutering will be required and will need proving to the rescue once it has been done.
We guarantee life long rescue backup (RBU). RBU means you will get support and advice throughout the whole adoption process and our volunteers are always available to speak to. If for any reason the adoption fails, Darby will be taken back by the rescue and rehomed elsewhere. In absolutely no circumstances should Darby be transferred by the adopter to friends/family, sold or given away.
